Discover our unique

artwork

Every detail in The Executive by Escape Lounges has been designed to ensure a calm start to your journey. The mixed media artwork in the space has been carefully curated to enhance the sense of place, with a series of unique pieces inspired by Manchester's industrial and cultural heritage. Reflecting their place in the airport, many of the installations evoke movement, journey and the sky beyond the lounge.

Flight in Light

When you enter the lounge, you'll see a digital curved wall displaying a flowing composition of light and motion. The digital canvas, created using programmed lighting and solid surface panels, reflects the spirit of Manchester, its industrial past and its modern global identity. Constantly moving images evolve from aircraft trails, to canal ripples, to clouds of steam, showing the journeys that shape the city.

The immersive experience is intended to change the rhythm of travel, encouraging you to slow down and enjoy a sense of calm as you enter the lounge. Flight in Light can be found in The Dock.

Encoded

Encoded, on The Turing Wall of the lounge, comprises mirrored discs that are laser-etched with text and illuminated from behind to create a perforated code inspired by the punch cards used by Alan Turing. The piece transforms coded history into artistic language to celebrate Manchester’s pivotal role in the evolution of modern computing. Encoded creates a visual narrative, echoing the logic, rhythm and precision of the Enigma machine. Encoded can be found in The Humm.

TwentyFour Tones

The wall behind the hero bar has been crafted from recycled glass bottles, onto which programmed LED lighting is projected to create a luminous horizon.

The light changes in tone and intensity, playing across the glass surface to create a focal point that echoes the changing sky outside and the quiet anticipation of departure. The effect creates a sense of calm in the lounge, as well as warmth and movement. TwentyFour Tones can be found behind the hero bar in The Fold.

Emma Jackson

Manchester-based artist and printmaker Emma Jackson explores ideas around childhood memory, personal myth and the small moments that shape identity, as well as how we process experience. Tales of the Bibelot is part of Emma’s mixed media exploration of how we use keepsakes – including family photographs and small, nostalgic items – as souvenirs to anchor memories, looking at how the stories of our lives evolve over time. Tales of the Bibelot can be found in The Fold.

Rockscape

Oriana Loucaidou

In her piece Rockscape, Manchester-based artist Oriana Loucaidou uses colour, texture and thread to create a suspended woollen landscape that represents the layers of rock and soil beneath the city. The weaving techniques used mirror Manchester’s textile heritage. In the lounge, Rockscape is set alongside views of the runway and the skyline, showing the contrast between natural and man-made environments. Rockscape can be found in The Loom.
